Travelling south east the first pub in Patrickswell is The Dark Horse and can be truly described as a grand old pub. This pub was owned and managed by the Riordan family for many years. George Riordan was the last family member to run it. Although it has been called The Dark Horse for some years now, it still displays the name Riordan's on the north wall, and is in fact still referred to as Riordan's by many of the older inhabitants.
